Matter Opens @ Area 405

Matter, a show featuring new works by Ledelle Moe and Carol-anne Gainer is now on view at Area 405, through October 26th, 2008.

Moe's new work, two large-scale cement figures, is entitled "Erosion" and offers yet another look at time's effect on man-made monuments. Eerie, sad and other-worldly in their gallery setting, the figures invite you to examine the burden of the inevitable-albeit accelerated-losing battle of man versus the elements. It is truly impressive to see these statues in person (and if afterwards, you want to see more of Moe's work, not too far away, visit AU's Katzen Center)

Carol-anne Gainer's work, "Drawn," ranges in media from prints to sculpture and video. She brings together whimsical, delicate images in what seems like a suspended memory, perhaps working best in a particularly-pleasing smashed cat sculpture:

The artists will be giving a talk on Wednesday, September 24th at 1pm
Area 405 (405 East Oliver Street)
