Painter Raoul Middleman captures the chaos, catastrophe, and carnage of Custer’s Last Stand in a colossal canvas covering an entire wall of the C. Grimaldis Gallery at 534 N. Charles Street, Baltimore. The 1967 tour de force, 11.5 X 18 feet in size, is the feature of an exhibition of Middleman’s past and present works, titled Custer’s Last Stand & Other Painterly Obsessions, opening on March 4 with a reception from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, that includes a selection of his watercolor landscapes from time spent in Utah as well as an installation of self portraits and erotic drawings.
